Well, if the students didn't indicate there was any problems, then it may just be an unruly parent wanting to get their way. If it were me, I'd probably just give them their grade and let it be a life lesson learned. Don't let your group members (employees/coworkers in the future) sabotage (if it was indeed sabotage) your project.

I think you should talk to your supervising administrator about this and ask what they recommend. Most administrators appreciate a heads up about this sort of thing anyway so that they're not caught off-guard when an angry parent calls.

I'm wondering why the parent didn't approach you earlier.

I have already spoken to my administrator who supports my decision. I was just curious as to what others would do in this situation to get an outside perspective.

As to why the parent is harping on this now, I don't know. My guess would be they recently checked the online grade system and saw the project grade.

I wouldn't change the grade. I also wouldn't drop a presentation to a C for adding animations. What does that have to do with learning?

The components of true cooperative learning are:

Positive Interdependence
Providing a clear task and a group goal in which each person’s efforts benefit not only that individual, but all other group members as well.
Individual and Group Accountability
The group must be accountable for achieving its goal, and each member must be accountable for their fair share of the work
Face-to-Face Promotive Interaction
Group members become personally committed to each other as well as to their mutual goal by working together, supporting and helping each other, sharing resources, communicating with each other about the work
Interpersonal and Small Group Skills
Group members must be trained in how to provide effective leadership, make decisions, build trust, communicate, and manage conflict..
Group Processing
Group members discuss their progress toward achieving their goals and maintaining effective working relationships.

I wouldn't either. I'm wondering what grade the presentation would have received without the animations.
