Under Fernández, the Dominican Republic experienced one of the most dramatic economic recoveries in the region as the country overcame a grave recession and achieved an average growth rate of 9 percent between 2004 and 2007. Reelection was also the result of a simple and powerful campaign strategy that included an innovative communications strategy.
