I would like to send postcards to my new students before school. Any suggestions on what to write?

A postcard addressed to the student letting him/her know that they are assigned to your class is GREAT. What a way to be welcomed. My kids used to get these cards in the mail before school started and it was just such a special, personal touch.
Just a simple welcome is best.

We never get our class list early enough to send out postcards anymore. I used to do that. I wish we could still do that. A lot of kids would bring the postcard with them on the first day. That was so cute.
Welcome them, tell them you have been busy planning for your year together, you can't wait to meet them. You could direct them to your class webpage if you have one. Also tell them how to get a school supply list for grade 2.

Yup, I can remember kids bringing the post card with them on the first day too. It was cute. They must have felt a sense of belonging having their teacher's name on the post card. Already knowing where they belonged for that school year!
Separate names with a comma.
