Hello!! I just began my first year of teaching (or half-year) in January! I am teaching at an urban charter school in California and have been feeling all of the struggles that most first year teachers feel (sickness, exhaustion, planning, etc). I have a LOT of support from my mentors, admins, etc. but wanted to reach out and ask what you guys would think would be most important for a new teacher to keep in mind/know/etc. My classroom management plan is decent. Prior to me, my students had a long-term sub, so we have been in a process of transition as I take over the classes. I have had some typical behavioral issues that come with long-term subs, urban schools, etc. but nothing too terrible that I could not handle. I just want to reach out as I have been lurking these forums almost religiously for the last four months as I prepared!

    Thank you!!

    Congratulations on excellent achievement!
If you have any questions or concerns and/or need help with anything, do ask. Many teachers on here (including me) have been teaching for centuries! Well, more specifically, more than two decades.
