We are doing a unit on poetry this six weeks. I have plans for inferring and visualizing using poetry, but I'd also like to spend time introducing new vocabulary words using context clues. Does anyone have any suggestions for some good poems that would work with this type of lesson?

    Thanks!

Honestly, I'd be teaching this point in other reading and then extending to poetry. In poetry, I'd focus on how words paint pictures...how words are used to 'show, don't tell', how words convey big feelings, how poets look at the world differently.

Czacza - I like the idea of show not tell with poetry. Do you have any suggestions for good poems to use for a lesson?
