Hey, all. I need some advice. I just finished my first year of teaching, and I taught 9th grade English. Next year I'll still be teaching 9th grade, but I'll also be teaching a 12th grade Novels course. I have a few questions.

    1) How should I structure a 12th grade classroom versus a 9th grade one? I'm afraid they will feel like I'm "babying" them too much, because I'm used to 9th graders.

    2) Any ideas on how to structure a Novels course? My department head is doing away with the old course.

    3) Has anyone ever read Angela's Ashes, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, or Maus? I need teaching/lesson ideas!

    Thanks in advance!

I loved both Angela's Ashes and Tom Gordon, never heard of Maus. I'll check to see what I can find. I love Stephen King and wish more teachers would realize what a wonderful writer he is.
