Of course our first day from winter break was today. And in the theater guild, we have to hit the ground running. We're hosting a competition the third weekend in March and we've got a lot of work to do to get a whole play done. I was explaining various aspects of this to the theater kids, and I made the comment that it would be our last production together. One of the juniors goes "Yeah, the seniors are leaving!" I told them that the seniors weren't the only ones leaving at the end of the year. It took a few minutes, but you could see the visible change in the group standing on the stage once it clicked. Naturally they wanted to know where I was going and why. After I explained that it was a promotion and everything, they were all very excited and happy for me, if a bit upset too. One of my sophomores goes "Well that just means we have to make this the best one yet!" They're a great group of kids, and I'm so happy that one of my coworkers is going to take over. She's one of our English teachers who started this year. I love her energy, she brings something unique to the table and I think my stage and my students will be in great hands with her. And so it begins. My last semester in this district.
