I have a student who is being bullied. He is a new transfer to the school from South America, and he speaks limited English. The issue has been reported, and all the appropriate preliminary measures, such as talking to administration and the safety for all students liaison, have been taken. His family has no means of coming to school to deal with the issue, and they often do not respond to phone calls from the school. A note is being sent home in Spanish to address the issue. His family is not the only family I am dealing with this year who have difficulty responding to communication from the school. How do you help families stay involved and up-to-date with what is going on at school when they have trouble coming to school or responding to communication about events at school?
