I'm a teacher of special education in a Middle school. I just got asked to resign but have had no support this year. My union rep is nice but ultimately has done nothing even though I practically handed them a case of possible targetting. My evaluator has said I improved but then that they chose to mark me lower because I didn't improve enough. I did fine under the previous administration but have done everything I was asked. Has this happened to other people? The students are rude, admin puts parents above teachers and blames me for stuff my students do at lunch which I'm not supposed to supervise them. The students do not respect me despite better discipline this year but admin doesn't help. They blame me if a discipline issue goes up to them despite multiple students having horrible behavior.

If you are non-tenured, there may not be much the union can do. In NJ, a non tenured who has been let go can request a Donaldson hearing, however most don’t go this route.

Time to find a position elsewhere and fast.

It might not seem like it now but they're doing you a favor. Doesn't sound like somewhere I'd want to work!!

Call it a learning experience and find a school that will be better for you. Non-tenured teachers who are let go do not have to be given a reason.

I would weigh the option of not resigning and let them not renew your contract.
