When I see something that needs fixing, I let the Sub office know.

Like , a few weeks ago I told them the water fountain on the other side of the school is broken.
(I don't know if they will fix it or not)

I also let them know about the broken faucet in the restroom.

And the class with the broken announcement system.

Recently, I did a class with a broken window in the class, not a cracked window, a broken one with a hand sized hole in it. (I am glad I brought my coat)
I let the Sub office know and they will tell my friend the maintenance man to fix it.

I hope that I am not steeping on any Teachers toes, so to speak.

I do have common sense and a huge hand sized hole in a classroom window will make for a lot of A/C and (This time of year) Heater running and trying to cool and heat the whole planet - due to the big hole in the window.
Looks, like ether a sheet of glass or some tape with a makeshift patch would be better.

I think that's totally fine to do. Many times they will already know about a problem, but as long as you're respectful about it, it's excellent to pass on that information: sometimes it might be news to them!
