I don't like what the Free Block Students do.

I will start off with the old * When I was in school.

When I was in school , when you were a senior, the last period of the day study hall.
If you as a senior signed up for that study hall class, the last period of the day. Then
you could skip that class and go home or where ever early.

Now they have free blocks randomly during the day. Where students have a open period and don't have to go to class.

So what happens (At least in my experience) is those free block students sneak into Sub classes and generally are disruptive and make for a bad day for the Sub.

I catch them , now and again.

When I do, I have them escorted to the office. Or I run them out of the class.

It is hard enough , having to put up with disruptive students that are suppose to be in the class.

Much less, having to put up with random students (From Free Blocks) who come into the class and generally act out of control and are not even suppose to be in the class.

There is one class that I did when I first started Subbing (That I will not do) that was so bad I sent for the Principal and I half expected the Teacher to be fired.
I overheard the Principal telling some of those students that if they did not leave, the police would be coming to the classroom to clean house , so to speak. (As I think several of the people in the classroom were not even in school)

Just today I ran a Senior out of a freshman class.

They are taking advantage of YOU. I highly doubt this happens in the contracted teachers' classes.

I went to an open-campus high school, and I don't remember anything like that happening, including in the classes my mother subbed in (she knew the names and faces of every kid in the school, so sneaking in was impossible).

Our students have what is called Principal's Period, basically study hall. Every day, they go to their homeroom class during the last period of the day.
