Denise returned from Easter break and went back to her Precalculus classes (which I had been covering during her maternity leave.) According to her, the kids said it was funny how the two of us have such different teaching styles. She agreed, saying that Mrs. A. teaches a lot faster, but that both of us have been doing this a long time.

Their response: "Yeah, you're both good. But Mrs. A. has the COOLEST stickers!!!"

Eight weeks, the ellipse, the hyperbola, logarithms, exponential functions, linear programming, using matrices to solve systems of equations, matrix multiplication... and they love me for my stickers!!!!

You're mean teasing us with your cool stickers. What do we have to do come to your math classes to get them!

i want one. because... well, i didn't clean up when you asked me to. And i didn't even do it when you said "if all the scraps are off the art table before the timer rings, i'll give a sticker to my friends who help." and I was sitting by myself because I threw toys off the table and they hit my friends, and it wasn't really an accident. and, basically, i was being a brat and refusing to follow directions. But I want a sticker anyway.

can you tell what kind of a day I had today?

I go to vistaprint.com and order the return address labels when they're free. (Note: anyone who hasnt' already seen these discussions, do NOT order any of the freebies after checkout. No matter what.)

I do a star with "Mrs. A thinks I'm a STAR" or flowers with "Good grades are springing up in Mrs. A.'s class" type of stuff. With shipping and handling they don't cost much more than regular stickers, but the 7th graders have loved them all year.

    Apparently the Seniors agree.

I think I may be the only High School Senior teacher who gives out stickers. My mom buys them for me (She thinks I'm 12 - ha ha!) and I pass the fun along. Something brightens your day by wearing a "WOW!" or "Great Job!" or Smiley face on your shirt - even when you are 18 years old!!!
