I tried five times to register for the Ets it gives me a time and date and after it gets the approval from my bankcard i get a notification that i will be refunded in 72 hours.

I need my money now. I can't wait until Tuesday to speak with them because of the holiday, wait until Friday to be refunded and i still dont have a scheduling date for this month.

As noted, it is a holiday weekend, so neither the bank or ETS is available to help you, I'm afraid. Dare I ask why it has taken five tries to get your tests scheduled?

Yes, of course i did not apply to the same testing center five times. I applied to five different testing centers at different times and after it takes payments the message is that it is cancelled after the money has been deducted from my bank account.

I have taken a lot of these exams, and I have never been asked to pay before a seat is confirmed, which is irrelevant to you. In all honestly, nothing can be done before Tuesday, when both banks and ETS reopen. I am so sorry that you are having these problems. I would recommend that your next attempt to schedule a class should be when talking to ETS/real person. That said, vent away, because I am certain you are very frustrated.

If they have your money, a real person, on Tuesday, may be able to come up with a solution that I am not familiar with, so there may be some hope.

Thank you for the sympathetic ear because $730 is a lot of money to me. And ETS advocacy has told me in the past that i can register four days in advance. I hope they will be able to override the system and get my money back to me promptly.

Given your situation and the holiday, speaking to a real person just may get you the sympathy you need with a real person. Realize that they are human and understand that you have a lot of money already in their system, which is not their fault. However, you are presenting the facts that they have money, you don't, and it is really important to fix this mess so you can take the required exam in the required time frame.

I always ask what, if anything, did I do wrong, so it doesn't happen again. I have the ultimate edge, however, because when I get very upset, I have been known to shed tears. Not on purpose, but because I am frustrated and I don't know how to fix it. No company that is holding your money, unable to get you the seat you need, is going to want you, the customer, crying. Just remember that if the first person you speak to can't help, ask politely if there is a supervisor you could possibly speak with. There is always a supervisor. Be prepared to tell the whole story again, so having all relevant details written down will make it easy to retell the story. Since the supervisor may, in fact, have some access to the details you gave the first person, it is good to be consistent. I may cry when frustrated, but otherwise I stay very civil and polite. People hate to be yelled at for something that they, personally, didn't cause.

If you are hoping that the rules cant be bent a tiny bit to get you the seat you need, the previous sentence is always good to remember! Best of luck.

Let me make sure I have this right, 2good: you tried to sign up for a seat for the same test on the same day at five different test centers, yes?

Are you by any chance attempting to retake a test that you had previously taken one or two months ago?

2good, I'm sorry to learn that my hypothesis about why you were having trouble getting that testing seat was wrong. What has happened with that, please?

Please stop commenting on my posts. You wrote a couple of years ago that the reason i failed my tests was due to my grammar and semantics. You deleted that post and refuse to remember it. I asked you before to leave me alone and to keep your hugs and opinions to yourself. I am being harrassed by you.

...But poor grammar and writing conventions could be exactly why you're failing. If you're looking for advice on how to pass, and someone gives it to you, that's not harassment. You're being a little ridiculous here, don't you think?

    Good luck.

I may disagree with @TeacherGroupie on occasion, but she is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable posters on AtoZ and certainly one of the most helpful members. She genuinely cares about us and does her best to offer sound advice. I think this is a misunderstanding. She really just wants to help. Why don’t you try private messaging her to see why you feel this way.

TeacherGroupie works really hard to help people. Truly. I, for one, am thankful to have her because she is a walking encyclopedia!

It depends on who the help is coming from and i believed the aforementioned person or moderator has never taken this particular test, but only gives information from a study guide. The study guide does not contain the same questions as the actual test.

TG knows pretty much everything there is to know about these tests. If it can be known, TG knows it. You would be wise to consider that.

Do you mean the exact same questions or similar-type questions? If it’s the former, then it would not because it would not be testing your knowledge and application of said knowledge, just your memorization.

I have been told by ETS that there is 13 different versions of this test; a differnt person said the questions appear in random order on the test.

As an example i have seen questions about restrictive clauses and snob appeals and this information does not appear in the study guides.

I haven't received my score back yet. I heard it's a very difficult test to pass and I'm just really anxious. Personally, I find it difficult to study for this test. Now granted I didn't prepare like I truly wanted, but there are so many terms, author's, time periods, and teaching strategies, to focus on. I need a 168 as well. I won't find out my score until next week.
