    Hi all,
Are any of you taking the CSET this Saturday? How are you spending the last week of studying--heavy cramming:eek: or light reviewing:cool:? Are you confident:rolleyes: or somewhat overwhelmed:confused:? Are there any tips or strategies you will use?

I'm taking subtest 1 of Math. I'm still learning some of the topics, so I'd say I'm in heavy cramming mode. I'm both confident I'll pass (one only needs a D- or about 60% correct to pass) and overwhelmed. I need to know how to write out the proofs of the different theorems--Remainder, Conjugate Root, Binomial, Rational Root, and Factor--and practice. At least I have the Quadratic Formula proof down and understand and can use the theorems. I have to brush up on logs and conic sections, among other things. Fortunately, I'm enjoying the process, though it is tiring. I'm going to Square Dance on club night Wednesday and at a hoedown Friday. Well, back to the studying.

    Good luck to us all.

What test/subtest are you taking and which location? I'll be at the Stockton / Modesto site.

Thanks for the "have fun" and "good luck" wishes. Good luck to you, too.

True. I did my CBEST in Glendale, which was fine, but for CSET my only real options were Santa Barbara or West or East LA. Los Angeles makes me nervous so SB it is! :thanks:

Is anybody else taking section II, and how are you studying? I'm using the study guide off the website and one other book. There aren't any good single subject books out there.

jazzminjoy, I'll be at the Stockton/Modesto site as well. I'll be taking subtests II & III for Social Science. I'm reading AP review books to wake up all of the info I have tucked away in my head somewhere...
    Good luck to all!!!

    AP review's a good choice, greenbean6.

lipstick, keep asking questions, and make use of the Internet as well.

Start with one of my all-time favorites: Answers.com (http://www.answers.com), used in conjunction with the subject matter requirements document for CSET English. Find a term in the SMR that doesn't make sense to you and look it up in Answers.com: if there's an entry for it in any of Answers.com's reference works, Answers.com will neatly spit it or them up for you, thus giving you quick background without obliging you to dig through scads of Web sites looking for one that's workable. If Answers.com gives you Web sites instead of text, try posting another related term or try the term on your favorite search engine (Google, or for me these days, IXQuick).

I have the impression from your posts elsewhere that Subtest II is a particular concern. Is it the linguistics or the grammar or the reading issues or the English language learning or what?

I'm glad my math CSET is in the afternoon. The site is an hour away, and I enjoy sleeping in a bit. Are all the single subject tests in the PM?

I'm taking the CSET this Saturday in San Diego. I'm taking the English Sub-1, and the Math sub-1. I'm really worried about the math, since I've taken it before and not passed...by 2 points. Ugh.
Some advice for the other person studying math, make sure instead of just looking and reading through notes, you actually sit down with the problems presented on the site and do them without looking at notes. Sounds like stupid advice, but it's so very easy when reviewing to depend upon known solutions and not force oneself to think from scratch. That's why long response killed me the first time.
