I know we are on quite a tangent, but I personally have no issue with raising my kids in my faith. I will read scripture to them. I will teach them my beliefs. I'll take them to my church for their formative years because it's part of my family's culture.

It's not force-feeding them, in my view. I have no intention of battling religion with them. No one will be punished.

Besides, they will grow up and either stay with the faith or go to some other view no matter what I do.

Why should I be ashamed of my faith?

But it's not bullying when kids of other beliefs harass Christian kids?

You're an educator, so it's probably fair to say you're familiar with cases of violations of the separation of church and state? Forcing children to pray? Distribution of bibles for religious purposes? Assemblies trying to get kids to convert? You know, the things christians like to do?

You're going to have to use those non-sequitir arguments elsewhere....

You are stereotyping Christians. I am a Christian and taught in a public school with mostly Christian teachers, but we never did any of those things. Religion has been taken out of public schools, and we are told that we have to have our own schools if we want to teach people about a God who loves everyone and died for everyone-including you. If we pray in public schools, you say get lost. If we start Christian schools that is no good either. I am sure you wish Christianity would go away, but then many of the hospitals and most of the food kitchens to feed those who are hungry would disappear. Instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water, wouldn't it be better to look at each Christian and Christian school and point out strengths as well as weaknesses? Some people turned out well from Christian and/or Catholic schools. Mother Teresa turned out well and she was taught her faith at a very young age. The millions who were fed, clothed, and cared for by her and her sisters I'm sure are glad she got a religious education.

They are also the exception and called out as wrong. They're rare, which is why they make headlines when they happen. That behavior is far from the norm.

No. If this thread is about bullying, it needs to be about the action, not the group.

I get it. You have a bias against Christians. That's fine. But at least recognize it and work to be fair to all.

Your non-sequitir is asking "But it's not bullying when kids of other beliefs harass Christian kids". You suggested that, not me.

If Islam was the majority religion in this country and did the most proselytizing in public schools, you can bet your last dollar that christians would be the first to cry foul.

You still need to prove this proselyting is the norm.

Pray all you want, just don't force it on others.

"Religion has been taken out of public schools"

Ummmm.......religion is still taught in some schools from a historical perspective which is all it should be.

Not me...and I am a Christian...so I guess that can't be true for Christians as a group. If you meet a Christian and he or she is mean, fine say something bad about him or her. No religion ever deserves to be stereotyped negatively as you are doing so.

You can pray all day if you like, read your bible, whatever, you just can't tell children to join hands and pray or come here, let me read this to you. Now you're breaking the law. It's not trampling on your rights like many christians like to proclaim. School is for learning English, Math, Science, Social Studies, other subjects, not for "growing spiritually" or whatever. You can go to your place of worship and use your own money for that.

@whizkid , you are trying very hard to steer this back toward schools.

This isn't about public schools, the stuff toward you.

It's about your reactionary hatred against a group of people.

JESUS WAS NOT CHRISTIAN OR A GOD! HE WAS HEBREW!
