Hey, make fun all you want, but the Red Sox have kicked serious butt all year. ;)

First place since April 18th? That's way more than just luck! :p

Try winning 26 World Series first....then we'll talk about kicking serious butt.

Are you implying that the Yankees are a better team? I don't keep track of how many rings they got 10 years ago or more so I don't know...

Even the last few years when they've won the division, they've gone back and forth with the Sox for first place all season. They haven't had it at all this season. The Sox have dominated the division since April. Regardless of what happens from this point on, the Red Sox deserved this title. Simple as that.

During the coverage of the Red Sox locker room champagne celebration, I heard one of them say, rather loudly, "I can't believe we actually won!" I laughed out loud.

Part of me is almost glad the Red Sox got the division last night. Now the Yankees can rest their starters Sat. and Sun. so everyone is fresh when the playoffs start.

Do you know Red Sox fans were sitting around in the Red Sox stadium watching the Yankees play on the big screen so they could know if the Yankees lost so the Sox can claim league championship? Big Whoop, in my book that's not 'clinching' a championship...... October- it's a whole new ball game. GOOOOOOO YANKEEEEEEEES!!

If the tables were turned, the Yankees fans would be singing a completely different tune. ;)

It really didn't matter if the Yankees lost last night. The Red Sox just needed to win one more game to win the division anyway. If the Yankees had won last night they will would have been 2 games back with 2 games left. The Yankees had pretty much no chance of winning the division regardless of what happened last night. The Sox fans are just loyal and wanted to be there to see if the Red Sox were going to win the division last night or if they were going to have to wait until tonight. They were rewarded for it too when the players came out of the clubhouse shaking people's hands and spraying them with champagne!

Anyway, I didn't post this thread to argue with people. I'm excited that the most deserving team won the division. Like I said in a previous post, whatever happens from this point on has nothing to do with it. They held first place ALL season and deserved to win the division.

The Yankees were back 14 games not long ago so don't count them out yet. They are the wild card after all.

Waiting around for someone to lose so you can claim victory? Knock yourself out. Enjoy the moment.

Not arguing, just a little healthy, ages-old Red Sox-Yankee rivalry here.

Hey, like I said, if the Yankees had won on Friday night the Red Sox would've won the division last night instead. Either way, they're the champs!

Oh...and they've got the best record in baseball as of last night too. :2up:

How are those Knicks doing? It's funny how Yankee fans always bring up their 26 rings, but Celtics fans don't bring up their 16 because the Celtics are not good right now and don't live in the past.

    GO SOX!!!

It's October!! New month...new ball game. The Yankees are the Wild Card...Oh, and we're playing the Indians??? The Yankees dominated the Indians during the regular season. New York went 3-0 at Yankee Stadium in April and 3-0 at Jacobs Field in August. ... We're feeling pretty good...:2up:

I try my best to deny that the Knicks are in anyway a New York Team...the only new york teams in my mind are the Yankees and the Giants, the rest are just fakers...

And you Sawx fans better watch out the yankees have turned it on...

As a loyal Mets fan, I'm also a Cubs fan.

True Mets fans have a sincere appreciation for the underdog. (No, not just this week, historically)

So of course I LOVE the Cubs.

Besides, Chicago is an amazing place!!!

Yankee fans believe that it should come easy. Mets and Cubs fans know that when it comes, it's "amazin' "-- they treasure the victories and know that being on top is a fleeting thing.
