I really like the school I am working at but I would like to buy a house with my SO. The houses around us are VERY expensive.

Would you consider moving school districts/county to an area where housing was more affordable? I'm so worried I might not like the new school.

    Thoughts?

Many people I work with live in different counties and districts that are less expensive. Some travel about an hour each way but it's worth it to them.

In my area (the Greater Toronto Area), housing is almost prohibitively expensive. In my town, the cost of a small townhouse starts around $500K. Several of our staff commute 45 minutes to an hour each way because they have made the decision to live in more affordable areas. I wouldn't want to do it, but it works for them.

I feel the same way about my area. Firstly, I'll say that I absolutely LOVE my city & could live here for the rest of my life. That being said, the districts are nice, but the housing is astronomical too. I couldn't imagine living in another state either. Any other county around here is either not as nice or safe or even more expensive like the beach cities. I've lived here in California my entire life.

Before jumping up & actually moving, after giving it serious thought, I'd try working & just commuting the longer distance in the area I might want to live in to make sure I like it before getting a house there.

Have you decided on what to do yet?
