I have to agree, there's definitely more to the story than what is being told, but we will probably never know the full story.
I'm sorry you lost your job, OP, but at the same time, may this be a lesson for everyone. Social media is dangerous.

After leaving I.T. Administration to become a teacher, this is what I learned:
No FB, no LinkdIn, no cell, no texting, no Tweeting, and even what we do here BE CAREFUL!
NOBODY, I mean NOBODY ever has your back when HR, Internal Affairs, or an Audit Dept. has collected data on you.
On the sarcastic bright side - when you get let go, everyone will wish you the best, maybe offer a letter of recommendation, and possibly even keep you in their prayers. Aww, isn't that special?

Social media isn’t dangerous. People not taking the time to think through their actions and their possible consequences is dangerous.

This is true. Social media is of course a tool.

    Is this sarcasm?

Her initial post seems to indicate that it was a pattern by saying "at times" she would go home and vent and post memes (plural). So, 10 times of 5 memes is 50. More than 10 means only a few memes each time which wouldn't be a surprising amount.

I think there was a pattern, not just one or two mean memes.

I don't understand that math. I didn't get that out of anything that was posted, so just wondering where this info came from? Since OP mentions pinning memes about coworkers and venting, that sounds more like the 1%. Are 5000 posts, in an unknown time frame, the norm? .

1% of 5,000 posts is 50 (move the decimal to the left twice because taking 1% of a number is the same as dividing that number by 100).

    50/5000 = 1%, not 0.0002%...

Just to provide the positive side of social media, our baseball players and coaches communicate via text. To let each other know who’s gonna not be able to make practice or games.... if I’m sick, I can text the head coach to let him immediately know.... so social media isn’t the worst thing ever.... it’s just the more specific whats and hows that give it a bad name.

I didn't think texting was considering social media, but I could be wrong.

The text that says "I'm running late" is no different from a phone call. A text that spreads gossip, well, not my style no matter how it is delivered.

Oh...I misread something. I thought she posted 1 pin. This is embarrassing. I divided 1/5,000 and arrived at that answer.
    I do apologize. Yikes!

If I said it was sarcasm, that would make it less embarrassing. I actually looked over an important detail.

It could have been sarcasm that threw a random percentage out there. I was just trying to figure out what your post really meant. Thanks for clarifying.

I've never misread anything here before! /sarcasm

I don't think the OP went for statistical accuracy. Just a random % to prove a point. I think it's hilarious that people tried to figure out the exact number LOL

So her point was to prove that it was a repeated egregious behavior that produced a good number of pins rather than just one or two? Interesting take.

I don't know. Maybe it is because I understand percentages I understand that 1% of 5000 isn't a small number of pins. In relation to the huge number of pins on other topics it might seem small, but for the number of pins slamming co-workers and/or administration, it really isn't as small as one would think. I don't tend to offer proof that people were out to get me by stating there was a lot for them to choose from.
