Hey everyone. I am taking my math 5161 test next Tuesday and need any pointers I can get. I have taken multiple practice tests and they have somewhat destroyed my confidence. I am about to graduate with a bachelor of science. My major was biology with a minor in chemistry and was going to go to dental school when I had a change of heart in what I wanted to do. Needless to say that this math is 100% different than the math I was suing in chemistry and for studying for the DAT. Any useful websites or videos would be greatly appreciated!

Khan Academy, www.khanacademy.org, is a good place to start.

But may I ask why on earth you're not going for a science license?

I have talked to a school in a district that is short on math teachers and they have told me that if I can get certified in math than they have several openings compared to science. I am taking the science as well, but just needed a refresher on the math.

    Oh, that makes sense.

Let me also recommend looking at threads on other states' single-subject math tests: some of the discussions of approaches and resources might be useful.

I'm trying to pass this test myself. Took it 3 times so far. Scores of 143, 153, and most recently 154. I need a 160. I'm going to start looking at questions from CSET math tests or GMAT tests, etc, as I can't find any good materials for the 5161 that actually mimic the exam.
