I teach in a very small town. I have 3 sophomore boys in a class and I am really struggling what to teach in an advanced pe elective class. the Class is labeled Individual and Dual Sports. any idea on activities, games sports or units would be appreciated. I have done archery and some ping pong this year. we go to the weight room a couple of days a week but they are bored, I am bored. What do I put into this curriculum with only 3 boys in the class?!
    Thanks,
    Trina

    What about gold and bowling?
    How about stretching?
What if they came up with an exercise routine using items from the house? Thinking like stairs, using can goods from weights, etc.
What about having competitions like vertical jump, long jump, how many reps with jump rope/ push ups. Do that at beginning of every month.
Everyone could do this not just boys.

Yoga? Tennis? What about some more alternative sports, like disc golf, or slacklining? Things they may encounter in college.

    Croquet.
Too bad you couldn't get like a instructor for like ball room dancing.
What about someone to come in and do a self defense class.

I wonder, could you challenge them to do something to put on youtube or perform at an assembly? (With parent permission, of course). Maybe they could create a dance routine to a clean, popular song, or create their own workout video.

I also don't think that getting into a routine is bad. They could just work on their personal fitness. Like, maybe a 15 minute jog every day, followed by a personalized weight lifting and stretching program would take up the whole class. We had a class that was just "weight lifting" when I was in high school that was popular with boys especially.

There are a lot of dual sports that are being created, some like horse shoe, corn hole, spike ball, can jam. Sometime backyard game can be fun for most kids because it is such a quick game to set up

If they are involved in sports you could do sport specific workouts and training. That might keep them more engaged and add value to the class for them.
